you better come! bring the HD too

Actually for all the wild crazy ride stories, the area is actually a blast to ride. Its no harder than any of the rides up in West Virginia that the group has done.

Here's a promise, if you come down, you will have fun for sure and as long as you ride your ride and dont try to keep up with anyone (particularly twinkle toes) you will make it home in one piece

best way to make sure your event is a successful one, keep folks talking about it and the excitement around it as high as possible. I suspect for that reason, this post or the ones that spawn from it will remain within the first page or two until May.... then the picture thread will surface
cool.gif

remember, the meet & greet thread was something like 38 pages long by the time the event happened

Honestly, though...I may not have my Busa back from some top secret work...I may begin spring (insert dramatic music here) 'Busaless'

I hope you can make the trip. Riding the Gap is just like riding on curvy mountain roads.

The East TN Riders used a great motto when riding in that area the 1st time:

"Check your Ego at the door"

It would be a great Spring excursion and you will not regret it at all.

Yeah, but vman, I SUCKED in the mountains of VA back in the fall...I mean, I was so out of my element...I keep telling myself it was because I hadn't ridden in months due to the back surgery, but I was a nervous wreck as soon as we hit the twisties. I just don't ever ride 'em, so I was a mess...

Honestly, after my many mistakes in the twisties then coming up on Mike after a Camaro hit him on the HD, I wanted to be lifted from the area and plopped back on to some nice sweepers on the highway! LOL

If I do go, you guys leave me in the back and don't follow me!!!!!

see now you are screwed! you posted 3x so you have to come

Seriously though if you come up there, we'll show you some great roads and I can assure you that there will be someone that will lead you through the turns, you can watch their lines and just enjoy the ride. Dont get me wrong there's some spirited riding that happens up there but never on your first trip through the area.... we all started sometime and while maybe the dragon wont be your most enjoyable ride (but you haveta do it once), the skyway, 74/28 and foothills will be LOTS of fun for you.

As we have mentioned, if you take it slow and easy, check your ego at the door and ride your own ride at your own pace, you will do just fine and enjoy it.

I'll ride "wingman" for ya anyday so come on down and have a blast

This road is not about riding fast or seeing how quick you can ride throught the Gap. These get togethers are about getting together with people who share the same passion for our great sport and a love of the Hayabusa.

There are many different paces that are present in this group. I know there will be someone you can ride a comfy pace with.

If you would like I will be more than happy to lead you through.

There are better roads in this area that are more suited to a bike like ours. the Skyway and 28 are not to be missed.

Make plans now and join this great event.

VaBusa, there's every kind of rider you can imagine on Hwy 129 from race quality riders to the HD's and Gold Wingers taking all day to get there. There's no reason to feel pressured to ride at any particular pace and you can take it at any speed you feel comfortable with. I've ridden the Gap for the last 25 years and it still amazes me at the wide range of abilities that show up to ride the Dragon. Don't feel a bit embarassed. I've taken folks up there that have never ridden anything like 129 that have an absolute ball. I'm sure you'll feel the same way when you get finished. The Cherohala Skyway is a great ride too especially for folks like you that may be uncomfortable with the tight twisties. The Cherohala is more high speed curves with a tight radius thrown in every now and then to keep you awake. I've ridden Blood Mtn on a HD dresser so I'm pretty sure you can handle it. How you ride it depends on which direction you go. One way is uphill into the turns which is great, the other is down so you have to stay on the brakes pretty hard entering the curves. I think you'll have a great time if you can make it down. I'm hoping to have my Busa by then so I can enjoy meeting you all.

Dan

hey Dan, good to hear you are thinkin about coming out.. Busa or not, come out and ride with us
