Thanks for the warm-fuzzies Dan...VaBusa, there's every kind of rider you can imagine on Hwy 129 from race quality riders to the HD's and Gold Wingers taking all day to get there. There's no reason to feel pressured to ride at any particular pace and you can take it at any speed you feel comfortable with. I've ridden the Gap for the last 25 years and it still amazes me at the wide range of abilities that show up to ride the Dragon. Don't feel a bit embarassed. I've taken folks up there that have never ridden anything like 129 that have an absolute ball. I'm sure you'll feel the same way when you get finished. The Cherohala Skyway is a great ride too especially for folks like you that may be uncomfortable with the tight twisties. The Cherohala is more high speed curves with a tight radius thrown in every now and then to keep you awake. I've ridden Blood Mtn on a HD dresser so I'm pretty sure you can handle it. How you ride it depends on which direction you go. One way is uphill into the turns which is great, the other is down so you have to stay on the brakes pretty hard entering the curves. I think you'll have a great time if you can make it down. I'm hoping to have my Busa by then so I can enjoy meeting you all.
Dan
I just need more time in the twisties to feel good about 'em...I'd love to make the run...not ruling it out...I will, however, have to force the hubby to NOT pass illegally on solid lines to avoid being hit by oncoming cars...that didn't help my state of mind in the twisties at all...
Take me to the big sweepers and long straight-aways baby!!!
