Governing citizens by fear...everytime bad press hits lets raise the "terror alert" level. Yellow, Orange, Red...it hasn't been Green since it was created. Real effective.
The traveling public can't even carry their regular size tube of toothpaste through airport security anymore. We are so much safer and free than we were before.
Of course that point is lost on many who've never traveled outside the county they were born in. It's a scary world out there, after all.
It truly says a lot for this country that we're still here after eight years of this level of arrogance and ignorance.
Let the rebuilding begin.
Some of us watch much too much Faux News. But then again, I guess two consenting adults putting a cigar somewhere most of us wouldn't is more scandalous than telling lies that end up killing over 3000 American soldiers (thank you for your service), and countless Iraqi civilians.
It seems the moral compass of the conservative right needs some calibration.
If nothing else, I hope there is agreement here that we should have a commander in chief who uses our troops responsibly. They are a valuable resource that should not be wasted.
I do agree with whomever posted history will be the judge of our former president's actions.
Not to defend U.S. automakers, but they were recently made a political spectacle of when they asked for $15 billion in loans...yet we're spending nearly that much EVERY MONTH in Iraq...a country that has a budget surplus. Where's the outrage from people who call themselves conservative. We're throwing billions of dollars away every month that could have been better invested in this country in education, health care, law enforcement, science and biotechnology research...things that would create jobs, and help ensure our future competitiveness in a world of globalization where we're competing with hundreds of millions of better educated workers in other countries.
This cannot be the "greatest country in the world" if we can't maintain a reasonable standard of living...one that has been slipping from our grasp for the last decade.

People going six days without food and water is not an act of nature. People who had serious health issues were without medication and FEMA was not there. Bush flew over the city and never touched ground. Funny how a lot of non-profit organizations were there aiding people with supplies. That is all I am saying

there was a time when people were expected to use their brains and also take care of themselves... people had ample warning to evacuate (common sense) and six days without food is not going to kill you... you can go a month..
The time has arrived where everyone expects the govt to take care of them.. this is insane... you build your home "below sea level" and have a fit when the "sea" flows in your door and then blame the govt for your problem...
What happened to the "MAYOR" of N.O.?? How about the Governor? look it up.. see what they did... N.O. was not the only place that got hit btw...
This was the first time an disaster of this type and magnitude has ever happened.. you think it is possible to do everything correctly?

so far Obama is spending over 3X the amount of money on his little event than Bush did 150M+ vs 43M you think that 100M could be better spent in New Orleans? maybe you should go talk to him about it....

The only reason you didn't see scandal after scandal is because anyone trying to report on controversy involving GWB was forced to RETIRE/RESIGN, WAS OSTRACIZED, OR WAS FIRED!
It is interesting to see how much DEFACTO censorship occurred during the last administration. I am certain that this will not take place during this coming administration.
1 i'm not liberal, just have a low tolerance for the FAR right and their silly little ideas.
