I count nine major cities with protests from Sacramento to DC. The other cities, in addition to Floyd's death have their own ax to grind for deaths in their areas but Hennepin county better file charges against the other cops soon.

So here is a conspiracy theory for you:

How do you win an election when you totally failed to lead your country in fighting a pandemic? You get the economy back going as soon as possible, dam the death toll. But what about those deaths? Hide them. How do you hide them? Distraction.

You have a cop kill a guy on camera. Then during the riots, you send in your thugs and they burn the place down. And you have a distraction big enough to wipe your virus failures right off the front pages of the media. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Crazy, consider this:
1. In St. Paul, all of the arrests were people from out of state. ALL OF THEM! Look at the video, there are a lot of whites rioting. I would like to think these are white people who see the problems with policing, but I wasn't born yesterday.
2. Did you know there has been a significant rise in virus infections since states started opening?
3. Most will think this is blacks rioting and "burning their own neighborhoods". The damage in Minnesota occurred in downtown commercial areas in the shadow of the state capitol.
4. Polls show even Trump people think a donkey (pun intended) would do a better job fighting the virus. Would you want the election to be about the virus?
5. It's had to argue the cop who killed George Floyd wasn't making a statement. He kept his knee on Floyd's neck for 8 minutes and looked directly into the camera.
6. Trump is behind nationally by 8-10 points and behind in critical states by the same amount, making an electoral college save unlikely. That's with only a couple months left in the campaign and limited ability to rally.

@fallenarch just looking at how four main events happened and from the apparent willingness of participants to be filmed, it seems possible the whole thing was orchestrated by somebody. Do you think Trump will swoop in and fix this? It could play out the other way, Trump looses support for not fixing it.

Trump doesn't have to fix it. Trump plays the loyal 25% strategy. He is banking on Biden not being able to get 50%. These 'race riots" exactly what that 25% wants. So Trump will get the base rallied and keep covid off the medias attention. Then at the last minute hit Biden with corruption, maybe even an indictment.

Don't forget his choice of words in condemning the rioting, coined by openly segregationist presidential hopeful George Wallace. Either he's utterly ignorant of historical context, or he used them on purpose.

Speaking of being utterly ignorant, what would you bet that

Arch, your theory is very interesting. The improbable statistic of a large percentage of protesters not being locals is not contained to Minnesota. Without trying to research if this has been a common theme in demonstrations in the past, it's hard to say but it sure seems strange.

Milwaukee was the only place I heard of a shooting happening. A cop received a minor gunshot wound. No news out of Milwaukee right now and I hope I don't wake up to any.
