Buying a Gen3?

Wondering who is buying and why?
I know a lot can afford to buy the latest and greatest, that is great! But some of us have to do the math.

$15G+ And my 2010 trade in/sell off to buy, and I get maybe 30more hp, all the modern safety nannies, cruise.... just not sure if the numbers are adding up for me personally. Just wondering if anyone else is doing the math on this one.
Not at least until there are some on the used market.

but I love it!
I'm not giving up my 2016 Gen 2 just yet. I think I'll wait until the hype dies down and dealers are able to discount the price to move inventory. About time Hayabusa had the electronics upgrade.

I'm returning to the fold after a 5 yrs break. Had 2 Gen 1's, 2 Gen 2's and have the Gen 3 ordered.
Tried both ZZR1400's which are great but i never bonded with them. Done most of the 1000's and sure they are quick but after 3 figures they get sore or flighty plus they're common as.
Not worried about the whole loss of power or old engine etc...so long as the busa character remains then i'll be more than happy to enjoy the new gadgets. UK 30% price hike wasn't ideal over the Gen 2 which we lost in 2019 but no matter how fast or slow it is vs the older models in a straight line , the corners should be amusing like never before....wish Suzuki had better colour imagination....I'm going with the Silver / red combo.

I can say with 100% certainty that it’ll retain the old character as it’s the same bloody bike!! Lol
But isn't that a good thing in many ways and why its out-lasted every rival...they got the concept right in 99' so why really change the recipe.

Could Suzuki have given it more power or different styling...sure but some would likely be moaning that its not a Busa anymore....they were always going to be in a no win situation with some people whatever they released....speculation and the rumour mill had some wanting turbo's or big cc hikes but thats where tuners come to play...why spoil their fun.

I'm in suzuki heaven my gen 2 busa and my gsxr1000 made a gen 3 everything I could ask for
Nice... Years ago I had a K3 1200 Bandit, K3 Busa, K7 Gsxr1k and a Bking all in the garage... Oh those days were fun.... Still miss the Bking... Nut job bike and it ran a restricted Busa engine....not that you could really tell.... So no doubt I'll never notice the 10ps loss at 9500rpm or so in the Gen3..

That's lots of Suzukis....

Which year is a K3 Bandit? I had a 2000 gen 1 model...great bike.

Just tell me of one other ‘cutting edge bike’ that in the past 14 years has got now got LESS power... that’s the thing I find unbearable... I was so excited to be getting a new bike finally... then they drop that bombshell and I simply can’t forgive them, especially when they try and dress the power turd up with clever marketing spin... so sad!

I hear ya, but will say it now has 3 cats compared to one before which we know combined with euro 5 tuning/restrictions is holding the numbers back.

it is also my understanding that cam timing on the exhaust side was increased so I’m curious to see what it does once it’s all uncorked.

We are All disappointed, but it is what it is.
It spins up more quickly, listening to the sound clip. Lighter crank, pistons and rods,
coupled with a bi q/s,and a little more low end torque should make for a sportier and different feeling ride if nothing else.

Another thing I'm taking note on is the drive by wire, I seen a Moore mafia video the other day where he showed how they have bikes restricted at certain rpm to not actually be fully open even tho your holding it full open. Once that's corrected with other things I see some decent numbers coming. Is it a 1400+ cc engine? No and I get people being upset since we all thought it would be for so many years but I'm happy with my gen 2 engine and would love if I could afford a gen 3 and would gladly grab one up. Maybe in a couple years they'll make one in the fastest color and I'll be able to get one then.

so until a Gen 2 gets up above 9500rpm the Gen 3 should be pulling ahead til around 170mph.
the power figures are just that...numbers

True about the fly by wire tech... I enquired about my GSX-S1000Fa being remapped and they reckon with just a remap it could go from 140 to 165 170hp so there is a chance the revised busa engine and ecu might respond in a similar manner.
Not that I care so long as the throttle is smooth form closed to open unlike so so many fly by wire systems.

Answered my own question through Google....

Suzuki has been doing this for ages with their secondary throttle valve system.
