Gen 3 Performance

I asked Chris Moore for a tune update and he said he's not done with fine tuning the Carbon Smith's so those numbers aren't final. He said give him 4 more weeks. He also wants to retest all the exhausts with them.
the bike just isnt setup for power on the big end. Components like cams and porting/ port velocities dictate total CFM of air that that big ole motor can swallow. You are fighting an uphill battle here. And lets be honest... even if u got 200HP STD out of it(moore mafia advertises and shows STD numbers which are typically 7-10 hp below SAE) i notice he always uses std correction factor... and i know why., what is that gonna do? outrun a zx14 or h2? still no. U know what has to be done. Force feed it some air. boost it. Call richard at rcc... Maybe you'll have to have the head ported/ stage 1 or turbo cams... or run plus1 mm valves or different throttle bodies... if u have to.... whatever or wherever the restriction is... RCC will know... remove it and force feed the air. by the time u buy an exhaust/ velocity stacks/ a dyno tune... ure thgousands into it already. for what... 7 HP.?

So not the unicorn people were praying for....once the cams come out it will be making closer to gen 2 power delivery....meaning it will lose the mid range punch it has now but gain top end...

Personally I'd rather have the mid range punch...
+1. its not going to be one part to change the power characteristics of the engine. its going to have to be a combination of parts. suzuki probably spent a lot of time to r&d the combination of parts to make good hp but also meet Euro regs. to undo that it’s going to take some work.

By ‘mid range power’, what exactly does this mean? In what style or part of riding makes this important? Keep in mind my bike‘s only nanny is the top speed limiter so when I hit it thru the gears, it just goes! When riding in the mountains or curvy 3-4th gear country roads, I don’t feel any lag or poor response from the throttle. If anything it can be a tad snatchy on/off. Of course, I don’t have any experience riding a different Busa.

If you look at the power curve on the dyno sheets of all three generations, the gen 3 has a significant edge in the mid range power delivery...it will walk away from the other two generations in a mid range roll on..

The :'so what" of this is when riding the gen 3, it will have a lot more power on tap where you use it most, passing cars, coming out of apexes or corners, etc...

@GSXRme did you opt for the dimples? Extra 100 dollars for max hp and torque. I noticed Chris did not state whether his was for the dimples or not. I guess I'll be waiting to see what comes. Before you know it we will have an aluminum dimpled version that's curved etc.

the dimples add turbulence to air flow but that works to keep fuel suspended rather than sticking to the cylinder walls and its “suppose” to speed up air movement. the funnel portion of the busa stacks only flows air so i dont think it will so much. on the gxsr1000 that chris dynoed, the stacks had dimples but that fuel system uses shower injectors that spray fuel into the stacks.

It falls at 10,500

Cams will be the only way to get the top end back...then you lose the mid range advantage the gen 3 has over the other generations..

Cams will make the engine perform the same as a gen 2....I think I saw a video of Chris Moore talking about velocity stacks in a gen 2 and they added very little gains...
In my opinion the billet ones give more top end they fall at 11,500 as shown before and youre right the bike from the guy who sells the billet ones already has the cams changed and its making very good numbers were back at the we will have to wait and see theme its all a stupid secret

Those numbers look like race fuel numbers...

The gen 3 uses basically the same engine as a gen 2 but with restrictions...changing the cams is only one part of the equation...the throttle bodies are also smaller...

Even with cams and these unicorn velocity stacks-the gen 3 would make no more power (and probably slightly less) than a similarly built gen 2 just because of the throttle body size.

I personally like a strong mid range verses a top end rush which is something I never use anyway.

I agree she may have MR12 but still without it the bike would be over the 200 hp and thats where a lot of us want to get

I'd say his dyno is generous....even with cams his numbers are quite a bit higher than Chris Moore's numbers and cams don't add that amount of a difference...

Still, having the bike put out gen 2 numbers is ok as well..it all depends on what someone plans on doing with the bike...if a person is planning on running it against liter bikes or ZX14s....it's just not enough.

My bike is plenty enough for me to enjoy.

I respect your opinion im not in to buy other set of stacks ill keep wayting for those cams to get out i already purchased the billet ones

Now that we are in the org the real question is do anyone knows what set of cams do we gen 3 owners need to put this MF in to fly mode?
