Weather Where You Are

It's warm out there.....riding out on the country roads I saw many fields which were not doing so well, the corn stalks are only around 5 inches high and turning brown...it's been around a month since we've had rain and we need it badly...

If we had a real good wind I can see it looking like the mid west in the 1920s around here.
We got normal corn here. Too bad nobody harvests it. The deer eat it. I guess it works out if your a deer hunter.

Smoke from the forest fires started rolling in yesterday. Sky's a nice orange colour this evening.... had to stop and take some pics.View attachment 1638801View attachment 1638802
We had orangeness at the end of the day here a few days ago too. I used to call that being "orange outside." Sometimes it's even green outside.

A lot of you guys seem to be having a rough summer weatherwise but it's about as normal as can be in NW Wisconsin. I wouldn't mind having a little hotter weather.

We've been basically normal with a couple of blips of hot weather. Our spring dragged on and on with cool temps and constant wet, dreary days... it was getting to look like summer wasn't going to arrive, but then it did and we haven't seen rain for 2 months. This is also pretty much normal for where I am on the west coast.... super wet winters, super dry summers. My lawnmower typically gets used only between October and May. ;)

The orange skies are rare since the prevailing winds tend to come off of the Pacific and blow towards the mainland, but occasionally it'll reverse and that's when the smoke from the BC interior makes its way here. That's also what brings those rare snow events in the winter. Stupid wind.

The rain picked up the last month or so and the corn literally shot out of the ground...most of it is 6 feet high now....most of it will go to the ethanol plants...

Normally my grass would be getting brown and crispy but right now I am cutting it twice a week and it's thick and lush..

Riding is hit and miss, the other morning it was 50'F out

Very hot here, high 90's. Also super humid so it feels like a sauna outside. Still not too bad for riding with multiple watering breaks. I do 2 water breaks and then a Gatorade break to keep electrolytes balanced. I have been hitting a pretty good heart-centered workout and it's paying off. Those of you with heart failure know that heat is your worse enemy but my tolerance is very good now.

This week we have lots of rain. Usually, when it rains here it's a real washout, and because there is so much sand you have to be really careful riding the back roads. Corn is growing here too. You have to be super careful at those intersections in the country as people can't see you coming and you can't see them.

Over 100'F here today and more with the humidex factored in...nice day to stay inside and enjoy central air....

I spent the morning doing stuff outside and now it's just too hot...

I waxed Bumblebee and gave it a good once over to be ready to go...

Fricken' hot here today.....I just went for a 5 mile walk and had a shower...and am still sweating...the humidex outside is off the charts..

I think the Bumblebee will stay in the garage..

Our riding season is coming to a close and quickly....daytime highs will be around the 60'f range and there is talk of early snow fall.

Our riding season is getting shorter and shorter each year which is one reason I won't put a lot of money into my bike only to have it sit longer than it is ridden.

In a good season we get 6 months of semi-decent riding.

56 deg this am with a high of 84. Of course I screwed up my back working on the house so riding is out but it’s damn sure a nice few days for it.

Had a monsoon the last couple of days, supposed to be not a bad day today, it's pretty windy out there though...

The trees are all changing colors, fall has come and winter is right behind it.

I bet the color change looks amazing. What’s following not so much. Been in the 50s for the mornings here and mid 80s in the afternoon. Despite my inability to ride atm, the weather has helped to finish some of those naggy outside projects. Garage is about finished as well as got the house power washed.

Hopefully we have a bit of a transition period where I can get all the outside stuff done. My wife has already started cutting back the gardens and soon I will be harvesting my pumpkins....I love growing pumpkins.
